The Division of Workforce Development and Community Education is pleased to offer Introduction to Wind and Wind Power Safety classes.
These courses are offered at no cost as part of the Offshore Wind Training Institute: Enhanced Metal Fabrication Pathways for the Offshore Wind Industry in the Capital Region.
Introduction to Wind Energy
The course introduces students to the fundamentals of wind turbines and the wind energy industry in general. The topics provide a general overview of wind turbine electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components and systems. Material covered includes theoretical aspects and hands-on applications through extensive laboratory practices.
Wind Power Safety
Upon completing this course, students will be able to demonstrate an awareness of the hazards encountered when working within the wind industry. They will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to an emergency appropriately, and increase their safety by adequately using personal protective equipment, emergency equipment and manual handling procedures.
